An Italian dish at the White House: Trump's passion for the Fettuccine Alfredo!

November 12, 2016

Donald Trump, multi-millionaire entrepreneur as soon as he was elected President of the United States, has a great passion for an Italian cuisine’s dish which is very famous overseas: our Fettuccine Alfredo.

A billionaire which is the perfect incarnation of the American dream of self-made man, the man who gets up from his failures and back richer than before: this is, in a few words, a reductive portrait of Donald Trump, the man that- on Wednesday, 9th of November- was elected the 45th president of the United States of America, in an election with a totally unexpected and full of unknowns’ result. Immediately, the pages of every magazine, from political and economic newspaper to the gossip magazine, has been filled with every kind of information about the life of the business man and that of his family, from the background of his career up to his hobbies and his tastes. Also the culinary ones, that make us discover a news that involves us.

Donald Trump, in fact, has a great passion for the Italian cuisine and especially for the famous fettuccine Alfredo, born in the Twenties of the last century by the passion for cooking and for authentic and genuine flavors of Alfredo, in the premises in Via della Scrofa 104 that today host the restaurant managed by Mario Mozzetti and Veronica Salvatori, the grandchildren of the owners that bought it in 1943.Trump, in fact, is a usual host for the Saturday dinner in a New York’s restaurant in the 54th Street, just a few hundred meters from Wall Street and his famousTrump Tower.

In this restaurant, together with the beautiful wife Melania and his sons, Trump loves to taste traditional dishes and food from our cooking, as the mozzarella and tomato Caprese, salami and cheeses, pasta and gourmand tiramisu, always accompanied by fine Italian wines. And a place of honor on his table it is up to the simple and tasty fettuccine Alfredo, home-made egg pasta made sensational from highest quality ingredients like Parmigiano Reggiano and soft fresh butter; to make them special, the thickening processes made with the two famous golden cutlery, gift of Hollywood divas Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, which loved this wonderful dish known during their honeymoon in Rome, in the distant 1927. Gesture impossible to replicate elsewhere if not at the tables of Alfredo alla Scrofa, seen that the cutlery are proudly preserved here, precisely where the fettuccine loved from the new President were born.

The whole history of fettuccine Alfredo is closely tied to the United States and to great American personality

which made them famous: and who knows if afterPresident Roosevelt, host by Alfredo alla Scrofa in the period after the Second World War, even Donald Trump would come to enjoy the original fettuccine Alfredo during a visit in Italy.
