Rome 1907... the beginning of Alfredo's Inn

The First Licence
In Rome at the beginning of the year "900", the doors opened on a humble inn at via della Scrofa...
All began in an old, warm and confortable inn , in the early "900" in via della Scrofa 104
The protagonist was the one and only Alfredo , the great cook and actor. The great cook for his very symple plates but with a very special taste. His artistic behave was always alive on his shows.
In this inn Alfredo created the famous Fettuccine that are named so, after him the name was famous not only in Rome but all over the world.
They became famous thanks to Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, two film stars of Hollywood , who tried this plate in the restaurant on Via della Scrofa during their honeymoon.
From Rome to Hollywood
The echo of this event increased Alfredo's fame on the entire hollywoodian world with the help of famous people from the cinema, theatre and cultural atmosphere.

Only to remind a few of them that left their signature and photographs that go up again from 1928 trought a huge collection of books and remarkable exhibitions of frames.The fame of Alfredo in the world is so strong that you can find his name in a lot of novels.
During the period of "La Dolce Vita" the press was crazy and day by day, the reporters camped in front of the restaurant waiting for the celebrities. Many articles, journalist headings, glorify the excellent work of Alfredo: watching the simplicity, admiring the tenacity, all pushed by passion for music, good cooking and good wine.
Time is passing and finally on May 5th 1943 for the simple sum of 100.000 liras, Alfredo sells his restaurant to the actual family with all its secrets tradition and its atmosphere.
Alfredo's restaurant continues to write his story year by year, generation by generation, from father to son who continue to add Alfredo's fame abroad.
New ideas, new project grow, old tradition remain but especially Alfredo and its time remains.
